Adoption Update - 10/7/2012
Four adoptions this weekend. Grits was adopted by a previous adopter (he's doing slow introductions because Suzie [first adopted cat] has been an only cat for 1.5 years so she's not all that keen on other cats right now). Ava Gardner, Omelet and Sydney (woohoo Sydney) were also adopted. Congratulations to the cats and their new families.
Yowl-o-ween Costume Contest 2012
Our Annual Yowl-O-Ween costume contest returns this month!!
Have you adopted a cat from us? Do you have your cat's Halloween costume all picked out? Alley Cats and Angels is holding a costume contest for "graduates of our adoption program". If you would like to enter your alley cat (or angel!) into the contest, email a photo of the cat in costume to info@alleycatsandangels.org by October 22, 2012. Please include the cat's original and adoptive name along with the picture.
We will create a Facebook album with the pictures by end of the day on October 23 and open it up for voting.
There is a prize (Petsmart gift card) for the two photos with the most "likes" on the Facebook album (voting ends October 31, 2012 at 11PM).
Attached is a picture of Trilli (adopted in 2009) as Piglet (or Porky Pig, take your pick)!

Clark Gable
It's taken me more than several days to post an update on Clark. Unfortunately the update I have is not good news. Last Saturday, Clark was at his weekend foster mommy's house and was doing great - eating up a storm, had a nice bath, crawling around and made a home movie - not bad for a two week old kitten.
But this past Monday, he took a turn for the worse. He was great at his 5:30PM feeding but at 8:00PM, he had really bad diarrhea and was laying on his side in distress. We rushed him to VSH (Veterinarian Specialty Hospital), which has a top notch emergency clinic.
He was in such distress and was arresting and it wasn't fair to make him suffer. I wanted them to move heaven and earth to save him, but it wouldn't have saved him, it would have only prolonged his suffering. All of the vets that saw him there agreed that the best thing to do was to put Clark to sleep. It is always such a hard decision to make - even if it's the right thing to do - because we want so much to save them all. After holding and kissing him, we provided consent. We requested a necropsy but so far, it is inconclusive; we are now waiting for the results of the cultures.
This is our last picture of Clark. He's at VSH and the tube is oxygen - he's too small to wear a mask.
I love this little guy. So much loss lately, with his siblings and then him. Thought for sure he would make it, even though I knew the odds were stacked against him.
And there goes another piece of my heart. Shattered.
Rest in peace my darling Clark. You were very much loved and you are very much missed.

($150) help offset the deficit in our medical fund and apply additional funds
to the cats and kittens that need it most.
Otherwise,
adoption fees start at $100 per cat/kitten or $160 for pair, or $50 for each
adult member of our Lonely Hearts Club) and include
Wellness check
FeLV/FIV/Heartworm combo test
FVRCP+FeLV initial vaccination and booster
Rabies vaccination
Treated for intestinal parasites, fleas, and ear mites
Microchipping (Alley Cats and Angels uses
veterinarian recommended Home Again microchips and shelter paid enrollment in
the Home Again recovery database)
Adopter must bring or purchase a carrier in
which to take home adopted cat. All cats must be transported in a pet
carrier.
