Three cats/kittens were adopted over the weekend. Congratulations to Sherbet, Cletus Hogg, and Love Muffin.
We really hope this works out for Love Muffin as he was adopted and returned once before. Not because of anything he did wrong, but it was not the right adoptive home for him.

Great National Spay Day
This was the second year that Alley Cats and Angels and Paw Prints Animal Rescue partnered together to provide a free spay day on National Spay Day for cats in need. A total of 31 cats were spayed/neutered and vaccinated. Almost half were female, but all of the females were either in heat or pregnant, so lots of fluids were given after surgery. Many unwanted litters were prevented with this spay day.
Alley Cats and Angels also gave away seven cat carriers to spay day participants.
We would once again like to thank Dr. Barbara Farmer with Greystone Animal Hospital in Raleigh for hosting our spay day.
Alley Cats and Angels' next spay day is the "Beat the Heat" Spay Day on March 14th. Starting then, we will start using tattoo ink to identify spay scars. According to Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, it is a safe and effective way permanently identify the cat as being spayed. Sometimes surgical incisions heal so well that it is not evident that surger was ever performed. The tattoo will be a permanent indication that the cat has been spayed (or neutered).

Wish List Item: Cat Carriers
We are always in need of cat carriers to be used for our spay days and then given to spay day participants who don't have safe cat carriers. We've had cats brought to spay days in rubbermaid containers with holes cut in them for breathing and in carriers held together by tape.
We need additional carriers so we can have them for cats coming to our next spay days.
Carriers do not have to be new, just in usable condition. We prefer hard sided carriers so the cats can recover in the carriers - recovery in a soft sided carrier is not optimal.

Upcoming Spay Days
Our free national spay day ( February 22) is booked, but we do have more spay days coming up:
Monday, March 14th - Beat the Heat Spay Day! Get the cats spayed now, so they don't go into heat and have kittens later. We have alloted 15 slots for pet/friendly cats and 15 slots for feral cats.
Thursdsay, May 5th - Cinco de Spayo! We are taking appointmetns for up to 30 cats for this day. Friendly, feral, doesn't matter.
The 3/14 and 5/5 spay days are low-cost spay days ($10, $5 spay days) for qualified households. Qualified households include low income, and households receiving government assistance. Applications for spay/neuter assistance is required. The assistance request form is located on our website: http://alleycatsandangels.org/neuterform.htm.

Good adoption weekend
Well, after several slow weekends (one cat adopted each weekend), we had a great adoption Saturday. The following five cats/kittens were adopted Saturday:
- The entire "Thanksgiving" litter of kittens (taken in the day before Thanksgiving): Clementine, Marmalade, Mandarin, and Mango (all four were orange classic marble tabby kittens)
- Edward Cullen
